Back early from Cornwall due to illness. Had forgotten that small child = purveyor of epic sickness.

Bro is the least scathed of all of us. Quoth he: "First Chichester, now this - you're not having much luck with the south this year. Maybe we should institute a south coast exclusion zone."

Anything south of Oxford, I can live without*. Especially the sodding M5 and the UK's most fuck-awful boring road, the A30.

*all interesting southern counties can move north and replace tedious places like Lincolnshire.

We had a great day out on Sunday, at least. And before the synchronised puking started we had fun last night playing some weird Olympic Games thing on the Wii.

Since I'm still not totally recovered from glandular fever this has really knocked me sideways, though [ profile] diagon is *so* much worse atm. I want to sleep until Christmas.

Oh noes, so sorry to hear that! At least you can keep each other company?

There's a bad case of 'eye flu' making the rounds here (it's basically flu symptoms plus trachoma) and I'm trying to not touch anyone or anything around me, especially at school.

Ugh, the eye flu sounds horrible :/ I guess being back at school your immune system will be pretty robust atm! I'm amazed I haven't succumbed completely yet but I still have time. Just feeling dizzy and trying to keep up fluid intake...

Ugh, not good [sad face]. Yeah, small children, worse than smallpox (for illness obviously, otherwise, pretty damn lovely...).

I'm with you on the South bit... but then I'm a Northerner and thus most biased... (and just generally a bigot...) [pokes out tongue]

My nephew just started school in September so now there's even more germs going around! Fun for all the family!

I was born in the English Midlands, which explains a lot of my vacillating tendencies, but after living in Scotland for a while I'm now ensconced in Yorkshire and feel properly northern XD

That's because it is properly northern, as I delight in telling my wife whenever she claims to be Northern too. [Pfff] These upstart Mancunians... [winks]

I never get why people get, all "Oh dear, don't want to get a child ill", seriously, with what they throw out, they can deal with what we give them [misses the days when Calpol would solve everything...]

The north-east is far superior to the north-west! Not that I'm *that* northern, since I live near York and my friend in Durham calls me a southerner...

It amazes me that my mother doesn't catch any of these bugs and colds whenever she visits my brother's family. I can only assume she scares any germs away. She used to be a teacher so it must be an ingrained skill.

Roving Petri dishes, that's brilliant! I'm feeling better today, thanks. Though the crap weather followed us up the country :/

awww, colds are horrible...
Please recover soon!
I remember London in this time of year - diiiiisssggguuusting, month with no sunshine whatsoever!

with the weather here and absence of central heating this season is most devastating of all here as well.
somehow.. it gets into your bones and you just cannot get warm T-T

selfish inquiry...
may I ask you to check my paper this weekend? it's 5-6 pages. About Fukushima manga >.>

I'm feeling better, just tired and not very hungry.

No central heating? Ugh, it's like New Zealand, we didn't have it there either and that was hard to cope with. I spent all winter underneath the heat-pump!

Yes, of course! I have time on Saturday, just send it when it's ready :)

Date: 2012-11-21 10:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile]
Oh, New Zealand has no heating too?
How low does temperature go? Here it's up to minus 2,3 in winter!
Breath turns white in the room!

Thank you so much for your help!
I hope on Friday I iinally get the approval! Been rewriting already some 5 times!

The South Island has a similar climate to the UK so the frosts are usually -6 but can go into -20s. The winter I was there, the coal range exploded and made a hole in the chimney and it was so cold, the olive oil froze. I'd never seen that happen before! I had to cook wearing a scarf and gloves and a big coat :/

No problem! It sounds like such an interesting topic even if it's very preachy, as you said before!

OMG... I cannot even start to imagine T-T!
That must have been horrible, I'm glad for you that cold is over!

My professor was not too happy with me, so I'm still rewriting... I'm quite worried, but today I had a really productive day!

So I hope on Friday I get green light and will send it to you asap!

Oh, boo! I'm sorry you're ill again. That's not much of a holiday at all! And yes, kids do spread germs so much more quickly, it seems. I think I'm fighting off a cold from my niece, though obviously not as serious as yours.

Rest up and feel better soon! *sends hugs and healing thoughts*

It seems like I've spent the back half of the year being permanently tired :/ tbh I'm still not totally recovered from the glandular fever so this seems to have made me very tired rather than anything worse. A. and XiXi got the brunt of it; at least I can move around and play at being nurse.

Hope you feel better soon, too! Or give your germs to the chap who keeps asking you out by not asking you out ;)

He tried to ask me out on Friday, but I have SM Town SG then!! LMAO he's been passed over for pretty Korean dancing boys XD

(Hit post too soon) Send hugs to A. for me. Hope she and XiXi get better soon too :)

PMSL if he rushes out and buys a ticket to join you, then maybe It's A Sign! Though obviously he will lose points if he ends up being an Exo fanboy.

On the drive back yesterday we passed a lorry that from a distance looked like it had EXO written on the back in the same font they use. When we got closer we saw it did, in fact, say EXIT. Which is surely more appropriate.

You'll have to tell me if TVXQ are any good at SM Town. A. just told me that they might do a UK concert. I said I'd only see them if there was a guarantee of Jedward appearing alongside them for 'Superstar' XD

Lots of negative points if he's an Exo fanboy for sure!!!!!

LMAO at the Exo lorry! I'm sure the fangirls would love to have one of those to chase whenever Exo give concerts.

I'll definitely be making a post about SM Town, I think. Even if it's to say I conked out about two hours in when I got smothered by all the SNSD/Exo fans/ succumbed to my cold in the pouring rain (who the hell holds an all-weather concert during monsoon season????)

I think the Exo/Exit lorry was actually transporting fruit *insert your own joke here*

What! An open-air concert? :O WTF, that seems a bit random even by SME standards. I'm sure the ravaging hormones exuded by the Exo fangirls will provide a heat source, though. Oh and you'll see Shinee, too - horrifically I am starting to find His Grace Bishop Minho quite attractive, though I may have been under the influence at the time.

PMSL what kind of fruit would Exo be? Unripe bananas? Small seedless grapes? ><

:O Are you going through the whole Kyuline now??? I can see the attraction to His Grace, though. He's got a lot in common with Siwon ;P Just as long as you're not lusting after Prelate Thingy (LOL what a bad boyfriend he is), we'll be fine!

I almost choked laughing at 'small seedless grapes' PMSL I will never look at grapes the same way again!!

Oh now you mention it, yes, Minho is quite Siwon-ish! But without the ravaging proselytising and with better hair. NEVER GOING TO FORGIVE YOU SIWON NOT FOR THAT HAIR *crying*

Date: 2012-11-22 07:09 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile]
LOL let's hope when Siwon finishes with that drama he gets a decent haircut and won't look like a complete numpty for SJM's comeback!

Also, speaking of bad hair. I'm just going to leave that there for you to ponder :P *flees*

A. is tucked up in bed and I am going back and forth making drinks, food, hot water bottles etc. Though to be fair she did drive 350 miles home yesterday!

Maybe Addy's cuteness repels germs???

Aw I like the A30 ;) Only because it used to be the road to London to visit my Gran, and on the flipside, used to be the road back home from Uni!

Sorry to hear that the pair of you are feeling rubbish though :( Hope you feel better soon.

Date: 2012-11-21 04:09 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile]
Aha, but you have happy memories of the A30, and all I have is thoughts like 'why does it take so long to leave Cornwall? Why isn't there a motorway until Exeter?'

Obviously I was spoilt because Birmingham has an excess of roads, so I do find Cornwall's road system frustrating :/

We are on the mend, thanks! The healing power of Lucozade and muffins :D

I love how there are hardly any roundabouts on the A30! I used to think it took a long time to get to Cornwall on the A30 and I already lived in Devon!

Glad to hear that you're both feeling better :)

Cornwall is supposed to be the sunniest county in the UK - it's the peninsula that sticks out to the south-west. People flock there in droves every summer and you literally can't move for traffic jams because the road system is so rubbish. My brother lives near Bodmin (as in the famous Beast of Bodmin, kind of like the Hound of the Baskervilles but feline, LOL). It just seems to take forever to get anywhere in Cornwall, it's like you have to drive for an hour before you find a road that takes you where you want to go. Being ill kind of magnifies the frustration and boredom of travelling these dull roads! But I will pick up some knitting today, I'm in the process of making a skirt now ^^

Date: 2012-12-01 11:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile]
It just occurred to me that you said you were making a skirt. Oh my goodness. It's a dream. Not that I can't, I am simply dreading the time process. How is yours going? Pics when you are done?

From: [identity profile]
This ( is the skirt I'm making - the pattern is easy enough for me to do and I do love Noro wool, the colours are gorgeous. I'm maybe a third through it and it does knit up quite quickly. I will post a pic when it's done!

Yes! He just started school in September. He looks so sweet in his school uniform and he seems to like it there. Even if it is a plague pit full of germs!
