Last year when [livejournal.com profile] lixia84 and Amelia came to visit, we took them to Helmsley Castle and had a massive laugh at one of the paintings illustrating medieval castle life. Unfortunately no photos were taken of this hilarious picture or the gigantic pak choi in the diorama of the castle kitchens.

Last weekend, for the first time in over a year, we returned to Helmsley Castle in the company of [livejournal.com profile] sandrine, who was of course Most Anxious to see this amazing picture. Fortunately she had her camera and was able to take a photo of this incredible piece of art!

This month, my aunt's book group is reading Shalimar the Clown by Salman Rushdie. I went to the library to order it and the librarian, who was about 27-28 years old, looked at me and said, "How do you spell 'Rushdie'?"

Kids these days.

Unrelated: [livejournal.com profile] aoi_shu, thank you for the cards! They're beautiful ^^

From [livejournal.com profile] rheasilvia.

The rules: All characters depicted in my icons are listed and paired off in alphabetical order. I've arranged them by surname. A couple of icons are a bit too weird for inclusion (e.g. Hulk Smash) and for those with two people on them, er, it's a threesome?

THIS IS SOME WEIRD CRACK )

Well, that was weird o_O But a good example of Things I Will Never Write though I could be persuaded about the last one because Mimi in hanfu unf

Today for the first time ever I actually physically ROFLMAO.

Okay I probably did that many times when I was younger but the days of pre-internet acronyms don't count.

I was a bit 'meh' over a fic title and so I asked [livejournal.com profile] diagon's advice, and we threw a few ideas around, and then she came up with a suggestion that was so funny that I couldn't breathe with laughter and did actually have to roll on the floor laughing my arse off. For about five minutes. Sometimes fandom is so hilarious.

This bloke is a total nutter! Naked guy goes sledging on a tea tray down a Brighton street. So kinda NSFW since he's naked. Hilarious (apart from the over-long ending when he's waiting for the bathroom).

In the last ep of Pointless we spotted cute contestant Nosheel who is blatantly the love child of Adrian Sutil and Lewis Hamilton:

His Adrian mannerisms include blinking a lot and being daft (when asked to name a female deer, he said "Duchess").

From [livejournal.com profile] karadin, this LOLarious 'writing analysis' thing!

I write like
Douglas Adams

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

I can't work out if the result is absolutely random or if it's based on certain keywords turning up. I'm leaning towards keywords. According to this highly scientific analysis, if I put in my Nico/Nels sci-fi WIP, I write like Douglas Adams. One of my Onmyoji fics makes me Nabokov. The story I have to get finished by August 1 tells me I'm Chuck Palahniuk (who?). An old R+ fic says I'm James Joyce. Tragically, yesterday's Bob/Fernando fic only rated as a Dan Brown ROFL!! What an insult, even my pron is 100x more intelligent than anything Dan Brown could produce! Wonder if there's a Stephanie Meyer result?
glitterburn: (F1: Nels hangs around)
Not really.

Just wanted to say Nels looked extremely hot in his suit today. Oh boy. And why did Fernando turn up at court dressed like a grandpa? That cardigan - so not flattering.

Massive LOL at Flav's ban extending to those he manages.

However, biggest laugh of the day is Nels' Mills & Boon-style narrative, thus: "I found myself at the mercy of Mr Briatore. His true character, which had previously only been known to those he had treated like this in the past, is now known [...] it is clear to me that I was simply being used by him then to be discarded and left to ridicule."

A promising career in romance writing calls to the tempestuous young Brazilian!
