Title: The Hawk Killer
Fandom: Onmyouji
Pairing: Seimei/Hiromasa
Rating: PG
Length: 31,854 words
Summary: Impoverished provincial nobleman Minamoto no Hiromasa arrives in Heian-Kyo to restore his family’s pride, but meets with resistance at every turn until the eccentric and wealthy Lord Seimei offers to take Hiromasa under his wing. As Hiromasa’s fortunes rise, his cousin Lord Tonaga begins to take an interest in his fate. Seimei’s association with Former Emperor Yozei makes him an unfit companion, but when Hiromasa is framed for the destruction of the imperial hawks, Seimei is the only one who can save him...
Notes: Back in February, following a discussion about the essential wrongness of the NHK Onmyouji TV series, in which Hiromasa looks old enough to be Seimei’s father, [livejournal.com profile] rheasilvia suggested an AU in which Hiromasa is a penniless nobleman trying to make his name at court and in which Seimei is his wealthy patron. Here it is.

Title: Hero
Fandom: F1 RPS
Pairing: Michael Schumacher/Eddie Irvine
Rating: PG13
Summary: Eddie doesn’t want to be a hero.
Notes: Written for the 10 Years of F1 Slash project.

Hero

Spa, 2001

It’s already late when there’s a tentative knock at the door. Michael answers it without much thought. He’s surprised to see Eddie standing there, sunglasses still on, hair ruffled, a despondent line to his shoulders. Michael stares at him for a moment, aware of a flicker of imbalance, because Eddie doesn’t knock on doors hesitantly; he bangs on them and occasionally kicks them for good measure.

Michael pulls the door wide and leans against it. “The hero of the hour.”

“Shut up, all right?” Eddie shoves past without waiting for an invitation. Now that’s more like him, rude and abrupt and just walking in and taking what he wants.

Title: Fuck (With) Me
Fandom: F1 RPS
Pairing: Ralf Schumacher/Juan Pablo Montoya
Rating: NC17
Summary: After his victory at Imola, Ralf comes to collect his winnings.
Notes: Old Skool PWP for [livejournal.com profile] diagon! Written for the 10 Years of F1 Slash project.

Fuck (With) Me

Imola, 2001

Juan leans against the curving interior wall of his motorhome and studies the mess in front of him. The debris of food and drinks are scattered across the long, low table. Sticky circles mark the gloss of its surface. Plates are piled haphazardly, smeared and crusted with whatever the fuck his guests had been eating during the race. Cushions have been flung aside. The thick rubber-matted floor bears the puncture marks of high heels. The leather couches have scuffmarks on the seats. Greasy fingerprints cover the widescreen television. The remote control is nowhere to be seen.

He sighs and rubs his forehead. He’s got no intention of clearing this up, but it pisses him off to look at the chaos. Patrick will probably chew him out for inviting random people into his motorhome in the first place. He hadn’t known a single one of them, which made it all the more amusing to invite them in here. Fuck those corporate hangers-on and celeb-fuckers that stood around the paddock with eager expressions and too much cleavage. He hopes they at least enjoyed his free hospitality, because his race had been the same old shit.

Characters: Chan Wing Yan, Wong Chi Shing
Rating: PG
Summary: It’s all just a game.
Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] mumblemutter from the prompt ‘identity’ for [livejournal.com profile] help_japan/Write For Relief. And a good excuse for me to watch the first film again.

Just a Game

“The thing you have to remember is that it’s all a game.” Wong holds his gaze; wags a finger. “Pretend it’s nothing. Pretend it doesn’t matter. The only person you should care about is me.”

Yan laughs. “Not myself?”

“No.” Wong shakes his head slowly. “The last person you should care about is yourself. Throughout all of this, you’re not you. You’re someone else. Only I know who you are.”

Title: Recovery
Fandom: F1 RPS
Pairing: Robert Kubica/Vitaly Petrov (implied Robert/Fernando)
Rating: PG
Summary: Every action has a reaction.
Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] lixia84, who prompted ‘hospital visit, recovery’ over at Write for Relief. I fail at pron atm so this ended up as a thinky character piece instead o_O

Recovery

Pietra Ligure celebrates the arrival of spring. Outside the window of Robert’s hospital room, a palm tree shakes its leaves beneath a passing breeze. He’s studied the palm tree over the course of several long weeks. There’s a dent in its trunk halfway up, as if some careless person has driven into it. Winter has taken the lower leaves, stolen the gloss from the green, leaving limp brown tatters.

Squares of light pattern the blanket drawn up over his bed. He stretches out his right arm, lays it in the path of the sun. Robert looks at the strips of plaster and bandage still holding him in place. He considers the scars, the flesh over shattered bone. He wonders which contains the most metal—him or his Renault. Except it’s not his Renault any more. Nor is it even a Renault. The team name has changed, an operation requiring just as much delicacy as the surgery that put Robert back together.

If everything had gone to plan, Bahrain would be a recent memory and he’d be thinking about ways to win in Australia. His plans were not what God or Fate or anything else intended. Instead of driving and winning races, he lies in his hospital bed, watching the springtime, and wonders how many seasons will pass before he’s whole again.

Pairing: Genji/To no Chujo
Rating: PG13
Summary: “Admit you’re jealous, and I promise next time I will dance badly and give you the opportunity to shine. Then the Emperor and all the court shall admire you instead of me.”
Notes: Written for the prompt 'dance' at Porn Battle XI. There's no real porn in this fic but there's Heian innuendo and a pastiche of Royall Tyler's wonderful translation. Set during the early events of chapter 7, Momiji no Ga/Beneath the Autumn Leaves.

Blue Sea Waves

The rehearsal dance ended. Genji and To no Chujo retired from the acclamation of the courtiers, Genji with his thoughts fixed on the lady beyond his reach and To no Chujo trailing his sleeves in a disconsolate manner.

“It went well, I believe,” Genji said when they reached the privacy of his palace rooms. He unfastened the ribbons of his hat and set it aside, then touched a hand to his topknot. “I don’t imagine the performance at Suzaku Palace will be any better.”

Rating: PG
Summary: During the evening dances at the Kamo Festival, Seimei and Hiromasa witness something strange.

The Dancer

Voices hang in the cold air. The high notes of a flute soar and dive. The strings of a koto are plucked, vibrate, shimmering music into the evening. The celebrations at the shrine shrink into the distance. Even though Seimei has done nothing more than cross the high-arched bridge over the Kamo River, the reality of the temple precinct stuffed full of priests and maidens and courtiers dwindles and fades. He enters Tadasu no Mori, the Forest of Truth, the Forest of Correction, and for a grateful moment sloughs off worldly distractions.

Fandom: Onmyouji
Pairing: Seimei/Hiromasa
Rating: PG
Word count: 2765
Summary: Hiromasa borrows a brush to record a poem, but finds that the brush won’t write.
Notes: For the [livejournal.com profile] smallfandomfest prompt ‘brush’. The phrase ‘writing numbers on water’ means ‘to attempt the impossible’ and comes from Dan L of The Tales of Ise, which also inspired Seimei’s story of the lady and the gentleman.

Writing Numbers on Water

Hiromasa leaned back against the veranda pillar and gave a happy sigh. The lanterns above him gave off a diffuse light, softening the edge of evening and creating a glow of warm intimacy. The air hung sweet and rich with the scent of night-blossoming flowers, and the slow heat of wine loosened the tensions of the day and inspired his mind to slip free.

Opposite him, Seimei sat forward to pour more wine into their cups. Mitsumushi brought a tray of grilled and pickled snacks and set it on the floor. Hiromasa watched the colours of her robes blur as she knelt beside him. He was too comfortable to move, his head spinning just a little. It was the perfect night for poetry, so he said, “You know, Seimei, it really is the most perfect night for poetry.”

Seimei looked at him over the rim of the cup. “If you say so.”

Stealing a Smile

The ox-cart rattled along Nishi-no-Toin Avenue as fast as the driver could goad the animal, which wasn’t fast enough for Hiromasa. He flipped aside the patterned coverings and peered out at their location, roughly ten feet further than the last time he’d looked. With a grumble of annoyance, he let the curtain fall and gnawed his lower lip before he pressed his knuckles to his mouth.

“Don’t fret so much, Hiromasa.” Seimei reclined in an elegant almost-sprawl on the other side of the carriage, a pale blue and silver fan shielding his face.

“Why shouldn’t I fret?” Hiromasa demanded, resisting the urge to glance out of the ox-cart for the twelfth time. “My poor cousin! She needs my help—your help, actually—our help...”

Call The Shots

“Seimei!”

Insistence was never a good tone to take when requesting something, Hiromasa realised, and he modulated his voice to halfway between commanding and begging. “Seimei, please.”

Apparently absorbed in tidying away a collection of maps and charts, Seimei gathered the scrolls in his arms and swept past as if he hadn’t heard Hiromasa’s plea. Perhaps he really hadn’t heard, Hiromasa thought charitably. He tried again: “Seimei, do this for me. Just this once.”

A noise from Seimei—not agreement, but not disagreement, either.

Hopeful of persuading him, Hiromasa pressed on. “It’s just a tiny little thing. I never ask you for favours.”

Title: The Fox Cub

Pairing: Seimei/Hiromasa
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 3604
Summary: Hiromasa discovers a fox cub in his garden.
Notes: Standalone written for the [livejournal.com profile] smallfandomfest prompt ‘cub’.

The Fox Cub

Hiromasa found the fox cub curled by the side of the stream that ran through the garden of his estate. It was the sixth month; hot enough that the crickets had started to crawl into the walls of his house in search of darkness, hot enough that in the palace the ladies stripped down to gauzy shifts that revealed their bodies when they walked, but not yet hot enough for the courtiers to remove to their summer houses on Lake Biwa.

It was hot enough to distress the fox cub, though. Hiromasa crouched beside the animal, his shadow cast across fur of russet and black and white. The heat of the sun burned his back through a double layer of unlined glossed silk robes. How much hotter the young fox must feel, with its thick coat! Hiromasa watched the rapid rise and fall of the cub’s breathing. Its eyes were closed and its body limp with exhaustion. It didn’t even stir when he shuffled closer.

Title: Sin
Fandom: Onmyouji
Rating: PG
Summary: Hiromasa is trapped inside a pavilion with a group of strangers, prisoners of a demon desperate for revenge. Only Seimei can rescue them—but not all deserve to escape the demon’s wrath...
Notes: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] spook_me ficathon. My prompt was ‘vampire’. Of course there were no Western-style vampires in Heian Japan, so I went with the Japanese monster that closest resembles a vampire (according to Wikipedia), the nukekubi—a creature that detaches its head from its body so the head can go around shrieking and biting people.

Sin

The rain started slowly, fat droplets bursting upon the path, water stains darkening the pale stone and puffing up the autumn dust. Two drops struck Hiromasa’s court cap with particular resonance, a plick-plock of such thumping ferocity that he lifted a hand to steady the hat upon his head. The next drop caught his sleeve, the water beading on top of the dark green brocade before it sank into the weave.

A breeze sprang up, bending the trees in the Divine Spring Garden. Hiromasa held onto his hat and turned, muttering at the vagaries of the weather. His eyes widened at the sight of a wall of black clouds tumbling towards him. The wind veered, and now the rain pelted down, a solid stream of cold. With a yelp, Hiromasa hurried for the shelter of the trees.
