Tomorrow I’m off down south for a week, but have a fic before I go.

Title: The Curse of Kuwana
Fandom: Onmyouji
Pairing: Seimei/Hiromasa
Rating: PG
Summary: Seimei and Hiromasa's journey home continues with a stopover at the Tado shrine, but their rest is disturbed by a haunted kin and a demonic serial killer.
Notes: Direct sequel to Three For Three, and the third part of the Tokaido series. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] diagon for the redirection when I was ready to kick it to the kerb and to [livejournal.com profile] aitakute, who gave me the idea of the haunted kin.

Too long for one post, thus: Part One and Part Two.

Title: Three For Three
Fandom: Onmyouji
Pairing: Seimei/Hiromasa
Rating: PG13
Summary: The shadow fox’s poison spreads, weakening Seimei. Hiromasa is worried and jealous when Seimei starts receiving mysterious letters.
Notes: For prompt 23, ‘a creek’ on [livejournal.com profile] story_lottery. Direct sequel to Shadow Fox. Seimei’s grandfather is garnering something of a complicated backstory, which I hope to explore at some point in another fic. For now he has a name—Shokuzu no Akinobu—that has the pleasing coincidence of having the same character (葛) for ‘kuzu’ as in Kuzunoha, the name of Seimei’s mother.

Three for Three

Nine days after they left Yatsuhashi, Seimei fell from the saddle of his horse. The road was hard and the fall was unexpected, for Seimei’s mind had unanchored itself and drifted for the last few miles of the Tokaido. He lay crumpled on the ground, aware in a disassociated sense of the sight he must present, his hunting costume a splash of white clouding the graduated shades of blue and purple under-robes, the dark blue hakama puffed by the breeze, and his lacquered hat lying some distance away.

The road was dusty and rutted and smelled of nothing. Everything had a scent, or so he thought, and it troubled Seimei that the road should have no smell, not even the scent of earth. He tried to sit up, but felt too weak. He turned his head and looked up at his post-horse, which gazed back at him. He couldn’t even summon enough magic to speak to it. With a sigh, Seimei settled onto the ground and waited.

Title: Shadow Fox
Fandom: Onmyouji
Pairing: Seimei/Hiromasa
Rating: PG13
Summary: Seimei and Hiromasa leave the capital to investigate the mysterious death of a young man.
Notes: Written for the prompt ‘adventure’ on [livejournal.com profile] smallfandomfest. I’ve borrowed the tale of the fox-seducer from Ji Yun’s Yuwei Caotong Biji/Random Jottings From The Cottage of Subtle Perception 7.331-32, story 42. This story is a continuation of sorts to events mentioned in A Night of Endless Dreams.

Shadow Fox

Hiromasa shaded his eyes against the low-lying glare of the late winter sun and saw his future unroll for the next hundred miles. The Tokaido stretched into the distance, a meandering road of wheel-ruts and potholes interspersed with metalled sections. The Osaka Barrier lay many leagues behind them, and in truth Hiromasa had no clear idea of their exact location on the Tokaido. All he knew was that Heian-Kyo was somewhere back there, and Suruga province was somewhere ahead of them.
